Shea Butter
Immensely beneficial skincare ingredient : Shea Butter
Whether you have dry or oily skin, moisturization is always important for keeping balance in skin hydration. If you don’t moisturize dry skin it will become white with dryness and more susceptible to rapid skin aging. And if you don’t moisturize oily skin, it will eventually produce more sebum leading to greasy-looking skin with acne.
So, moisturization should be a part of everyone’s skincare routine regardless of our skin type. Most of the time when we moisturize our skin it loses hydration very quickly, especially during winters but one ingredient that will help in protecting our skin from dryness is Shea Butter.
What is Shea Butter?
Shea butter is a vegetable oil obtained from the nuts of the shea tree. It is usually found in Africa but the best quality shea butter is from areas of Nigeria and Ghana. Raw shea butter is creamy white in color. The nuts of Shea trees are pounded and ground to create a thick paste. This paste is then boiled and the oily liquid is then skimmed off the surface of the remaining paste of impurities.
Another method to extract shea butter is by the cold-pressed method. In this method, the nuts of the shea tree are pressed with a machine to extract its oil and nutrients. The difference between these two techniques to extract oil is that with the cold-pressing method shea butter does not get the strong nutty smell and the color is way lighter.
Why use Shea Butter for skincare?
Shea butter does not have one but many skin benefits. Shea butter is an excellent emollient that moisturizes our skin and keeps it smooth and soft even during winters. It has a combination of oleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid, and linoleic acid which provide your skin with sufficient hydration and moisturization.
Shea butter increases skin elasticity to keep our skin plumper and softer, it reduces dark spots, wrinkles, and blemishes. Its emollient properties reduce scars, skin itching, irritation, roughness, and dryness.
It also helps in increasing the blood circulation in the dermal layer of our skin. It has healing properties that heal burns, wounds, cuts, and scars on our skin. Also, it is potent enough to reduce stretch marks.
Bee Elite Essentials has created its skincare products using these amazing qualities of Shea butter to provide intense hydration and nourishment to your skin.
