New Year is only a few hours away, and along with it, this year will bring new opportunities, new people, new relationships and new goals as well as new challenges. All that remains to be done is to make the right resolutions that will bring you closer to what you desire.
Often in the pursuit of materialistic wealth and success, we forget to maintain the wealth that we already possess. Most of our past resolutions reflect this – desire to wake up early, take less stress and so on. This New Year, ask yourself, does the list of your New Year resolutions include your skin health? If not, now might be the right time to do so.
We have enlisted a few skincare resolutions according to skin types that will help you to look your best this upcoming year and the years after that. If you are not yet sure about your skin type, determine it with these easy steps .
SKINCARE RESOLUTIONS FOR DRY SKIN/AGING SKIN
Dry skin often falls victim to premature aging if proper care is not taken. We believe aging skin and dry skin both get benefitted from these skincare habits if we abide by them regularly.
- TAKE WARM WATER BATHS AND SHOWERS
I will take warm water baths that’ll relax my skin and also retain moisture unlike hot water that can strip off the moisture from my skin.
- MOISTURIZE WELL
I will make sure that my skin always remains hydrated to stave off signs of skin aging.
- ADD MORE ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS (EFAS) IN DIET
I will add Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) like nuts, beans, fatty fish like Salmon and Mackerel in my diet that will help keep my skin moisturized from within.
- PROTECT MY SKIN
I will protect my skin better from the external factors that make my skin dry like sun, harsh cold air, pollution, and smoke. I’ll use more scarves, stoles, hats, and masks.
- STAY HYDRATED FROM WITHIN
I will be drinking more water to flush out toxins and keep my body hydrated.
- GET A HUMIDIFIER FOR HOME
I will get a humidifier to restore right level of humidity to my room so that my skin does not look dry in the morning.
- FIND HYDRATING SKINCARE PRODUCTS
I’m going to use skincare products that keep my skin hydrated and protected.
- USE MILD EXFOLIATORS
I’m going to use a gentler and milder exfoliator that cares for my skin and does not make my skin dry
- MASSAGE MY FACE REGULARLY
I’m going to massage my face more regularly before I go to sleep to reduce puffiness and relax my facial muscles.
- USE A HYDRATING NIGHT SERUM
I will be using an intensely hydrating night serum every night to keep my skin soft, supple and moisturized even during the day.
SKINCARE RESOLUTIONS FOR COMBINATION SKIN
Combination skin gets the best and worst of both the skin types, oily and dry. This is why it is important to give it combined care specially crafted for the skin type. So these skincare resolutions will help you to keep your combination skin healthy all throughout the coming year and more.
- TONE REGULARLY
I’ll use a balancing skin toner that will help me control the oily areas while also helping to hydrate the dry areas.
- MOISTURIZE MY SKIN
I will moisturize my skin every day which will help me to prevent overproduction of sebum on my forehead, nose, and chin and prevent my cheeks and eyes from drying out.
- HYDRATE MY SKIN SMARTLY
I’ll use a light day moisturizer that keeps my skin soft yet not greasy and thick night moisturizer that’ll provide me with intense hydration throughout the dark hours.
- AVOID HABITS THAT DRY MY SKIN
I’ll try my best to avoid habits like smoking and drinking which dry my skin out and make me dehydrated.
- CUT BACK ON MAKEUP
I’ll let my skin breathe more and use lesser makeup products on my skin. I will embrace myself and my skin, with or without makeup.
- DETOX MY BODY AND SKIN
I will drink more water, eat food rich in fiber and fermented food. This will keep my gut and body clean, healthy and happy which will eventually reflect on my skin.
- TAKE PROPER SKIN NUTRITION FROM WITHIN
I’ll eat a healthy amount of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids that will help to keep my skin healthy from within.
- EXFOLIATE AND CLEANSE REGULARLY
I’ll use a gentle exfoliator that will cleanse the oily and the dry areas of my skin effectively.
- USE GENTLE SKINCARE PRODUCTS
I’ll not use harsh skincare products that can damage my skin and lead to different skin issues.
- EAT MORE ANTIOXIDANT-RICH FOOD
I’ll eat more antioxidant-rich food. Antioxidants are not only good for my skin but are also good for my body health.
SKINCARE RESOLUTIONS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
Sensitive skin is more prone to allergies, inflammation, redness, and irritation which is why it is important that we take more care of it. Without proper skincare, sensitive skin is extremely prone to aging because of its constantly inflamed state.
Here are some skincare resolutions that will help reduce the sensitivity of your skin to a much normal state if you follow these resolutions religiously.
- USE A MILD CLEANSER THAT SUITS MY SKIN
I will refrain from using harsh skincare products especially my face cleanser. I’ll find and use milder ones.
- AVOID TOUCHING MY FACE
I’ll avoid touching my face, and if I have to, I’ll wash my hands before touching my face. Bacteria from my hands can easily transfer to my face and that might trigger my skin’s sensitivity.
- USE A SOOTHING MOISTURIZER
I will make sure to use more soothing and repairing skin moisturizer that will placate my skin sensitivity and help to reduce inflammation.
- AVOID THINGS THAT TRIGGER MY SENSITIVITY
I will stay away from all things including dust, pollution, harsh weather, sun rays, food I’m allergic to and chemically-based makeup that triggers my skin’s sensitivity.
- BE MORE AWARE OF DIRT AROUND ME
I’ll make sure that all the things that I use for my skin are clean practically and ethically to make sure nothing that can trigger my sensitivity goes past me. I’ll clean all my makeup brushes, pillowcases, combs, and all the other skincare accessories that may attract dust and dirt particles.
- EAT MORE ANTIOXIDANT-RICH FOOD
I’ll be sure to eat more antioxidant-rich food. Antioxidants keep my skin healthy and reduce inflammation.
- USE MORE PRODUCTS AND THINGS THAT PROTECT MY SKIN
I’ll protect my skin from dust, pollution, and sun rays that may trigger my sensitivity by using appropriate sunscreen, wearing hats, scarves, and stoles.
- USE GENTLE EXFOLIATORS
I’ll use more gentle and mild exfoliants like honey and honey-based products because exfoliation is important to get rid of dead skin cells from my face.
- USE CONSCIOUS SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT ARE MADE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
I’ll specifically look for products that are clean from unnecessary chemical ingredients that can potentially harm my skin.
- RELAX MY SKIN WITH FACE YOGA AND FACE MASSAGE
I’ll practice face yoga and massage my face with jade roller regularly. I know face yoga and face massage can relax my skin and face muscles allowing my skin to breathe easy.
SKINCARE RESOLUTIONS FOR OILY SKIN
This new year, give your oily skin the gift of flawless beauty with these 10 skincare resolutions. No more acne or any other oily skin problems. Add-in these resolutions to achieve your goal of radiant skin.
- WASH MY FACE NO MORE THAN THRICE A DAY
I will not wash my face more than thrice a day. Over-washing my face to get rid of oil has damaged my face and led to more oil production.
- WASH MY HAIR REGULARLY
I’ll regularly wash my hair to keep them clean from pollution and dust. Because of oily skin, my hair too becomes oily and attracts dust and pollution which ultimately leads to skin acne.
I will not forget to moisturize my skin. Moisturizing my skin regularly helps to reduce the over-production of sebum leading to naturally cleaner, non-greasy skin.
- AVOID TOUCHING MY FACE
I’ll avoid touching my face unless it is necessary. My skin already has various bacteria on its surface and touching my face constantly can lead to these bacteria entering my pores and causing acne.
- WASH MY HANDS BEFORE APPLYING SKINCARE PRODUCTS
I’ll always wash my hands thoroughly before applying any skincare product so that the oil and bacteria on my hands are not transferred to my face.
- STAY HYDRATED
I will drink enough water which will keep me hydrated and flush out the toxins from my body. It’ll also help the nutrients I ingest to reach their desired site.
- STAY AWAY FROM HIGH GI FOOD
I’ll avoid eating junk foods like burger, fries, and donuts. These are foods with a high Glycemic Index (GI) that may destroy my skin’s firm structure.
- EXFOLIATE REGULARLY
I will exfoliate my skin at least twice or thrice a week to keep the dead skin cells away so that they don’t clog my pores which might lead to acne formation.
- PRACTICE FACE YOGA
I will practice face yoga regularly. Yoga for face helps to keep facial muscles relaxed and increases blood flow beneath my skin making it plumper and younger-looking.
- MASK UP REGULARLY
I will use a clay-based face mask regularly. Clay-based masks help me to keep my skin oil-free without drying it out completely that is why clay masks are best for my oily skin.
To say it in only a few words, we have summarized the above information in this table along with some myths and facts about each skin type.
